Quick Fix Thursday

I swear, sometimes it's the minor things in our daily beauty regimes that irritate us the most.  Have you ever had the type of morning where everything goes wrong? You chip a nail, get a run in your stockings or accidental burn your forehead with the curling iron. Argh! I can't help you with the run in your stockings but I can get you out of a few last minute beauty faux pas.

Bad Reaction to a New Face Cream

What You Need To Know:

WARNING! Allergic reaction! Wash off the product right away with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Cool your skin with a washcloth to soothe inflammation and take an oral antihistamine such as Benadryl to reduce itching. Apply a 1 percent hydrocortisone cream. DO NOT apply any other product to your skin until the irritation subsides.

Overzealous With Your New Exfoliant

What You Need To Know:

You removed more than just dead skin cells, you removed the healthy cells underneath. Ouch!  Cool your skin for a few minutes with a washcloth to soothe irritation.  Apply a soothing moisturizer such as Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15  to calm the area. DO NOT apply a moisturizer with fragrance and PLEASE DO NOT exfoliate. Doing so will burn and sting already sensitized skin. For the next 72 hours, avoid the sun, and let your skin heal before you apply makeup or put anything containing chemicals on it.

Hot Wax Burn

What You Need To Know:

Wax burns are usually first degree burns and should be treated as such. Ice it. Wrap ice in a cloth and apply it to the burn right away to cool down the temperature of the skin. Next, apply a 1 percent hydrocortisone cream to the affected area to calm the redness and swelling. Keep the area moist by regularly applying a moisturizing ointment such as Aquaphor. Take an anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen.

Pluck Your Skin and Your Brow Hair

What You Need To Know:

Apply pressure to the area with a cold washcloth to constrict the blood vessels and stop the bleeding. Then dab on an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin to prevent infection. Put a bandage on it to keep the spot moist and protected.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural product that has an array of benefits. Some people use it as a detoxification while others use it to treat problem skin.  It improves blood circulation to the capillaries that nourish the skin, delivers oxygen, maintains elasticity, tones, purifies and revives. Vinegar can have a positive effect on acne, eczema and sunburn. Its anti-fungal properties may help to eliminate warts and skin tags.

To fight mild or severe acne, gently dab some onto the skin with a cotton ball and let it dry naturally. To remove skin tags, apply apple cider vinegar on the skin tag three times per day.  Apply a bandage, allow it to remain on the skin tag for fifteen minutes.  Repeat until the tag falls off.

Are you tired of discolored skin, razor burns, ingrown hairs and itchy skin after shaving your bikini area? Can you not afford laser hair removal? Have you thrown down the razor and decided to just trim to keep your girlie part neat? Well, listen up. Get a bikini wax.

I know. You've seen The 40-Year-Old Virgin and warded off waxing years ago, but honestly, it's not that bad or at least it doesn't have to be.

What You Need To Know:

Thirty to 45 minutes to waxing, apply a numbing cream to the skin like No Scream Cream, or take an aspirin or ibuprofen. This is especially helpful when getting waxed in such a sensitive area.

Hope this helps.

Milk Bath

The lactic acid in milk serves as a gentle skin exfoliant, while its natural fat content acts as a body moisturizer. Add a gallon of whole milk to a tubful of warm water and soak. It's a great alternative to sugar and salt scrubs, which may be too abrasive for people who suffer from eczema, psoriasis, or sensitive skin. If you prefer a fragranced bath, add 10 to 20 drops of an essential oil such as lavender

Avocado Mask

Avocado oil's abundant fatty acids help balance skin's moisture levels, and the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E protect skin from further damage. Combine equal parts avocado oil and evening-primrose oil (which supports collagen synthesis with its gamma linoleic acid) in a sealable bottle and shake to blend. Massage five or six drops into clean skin, and then cover your face with a warm washcloth for a minute to help the oils sink in.

Enjoy!

Quick Fix Thursday

Most women don't get puffy eyes until they are in their forties or older-but in the hectic world that we live in, some of us can experience puffy eyes earlier. So how can you get rid of the Louis Vuitton bags under your eyes?

What you need to know:

Turn off the television, woman and get some shut-eye! Not getting enough sleep can lead to the overproduction of stress hormones, which creates an inflammatory response in the skin. Getting at least seven hours of sleep at night is ideal. In fact, getting three to four consecutive nights of good ol' sleeping can make a huge difference.

Check this out! The way that you sleep also impacts puffiness. Sleeping on your stomach or sleeping on your side can cause fluid to accumulate under the skin around the eyes. YIKES! Who knew, right?

Try to sleep on your back with your head elevated with an extra pillow to drain any excess. Gravity will work in your favor, girlfriend.

Okay, so, what happens if you wake up in the morning looking...ahem...like a mad woman? Calm down, breath, grab a wet washcloth, stick it in the freezer for 15 minutes, then use it as a cool compress.

Another quick fix:

You could also try an eye treatment with a roller ball applicator to help eye treatment creams sink in deeper.

Hope this helps, ladies.
