Tone Down the Shine

Gotta shiny, greasy face? Eck! Who wants that? Most women want dewy, glowy skin, but I haven't met a woman yet that wants, uh-hum, shiny skin. I know. I know, this hot, muggy summer weather is only exacerbating your problem, but, there is help.

First, you need control the amount of oil on the skin. Unfortunately, there is no permanent fix for excess oil production, but you can manage it, especially if you use products that are oil-free and water based.
 .
What You Need To Know:

Twice a day (once if you become too dry), wash your face with an oil-free cleaners that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This will dry up excess oil. I Like Dermalogica's Clearing Wash

Look for matte or semi-matte primers and foundations. Matte makeup is specifically designed to prevent and reduce shine on the face. Finish by applying a thin layer of powder over the face. Use a powder that contains clay. The powder absorbs the oil. I like Tarte Smooth Operator Micronized Clay Finishing Powder.

Weekly Extras:

Exfoliate your skin weekly. Exfoliating with a facial scrub once a week stops excess oil, as long as you are not having an active acne breakout. Never exfoliate skin that is broken out. Doing so could lead to irritation.

Once a week, apply a clay mask for 10 minutes. Clay masks draw out oils from the skin.

Hope this helps.
