Seal With A Kiss: Lip Care

Lip skin is thin and fragile. Our lips need just as much care as the rest of our skin -- if not more -- considering how much they're exposed. I'm sure you've noticed that lips have the tendency to shrink and thin with age. Aging lips develop lip lines making you appear older. Healthy lips that are nice and plump take years off your appearance.

Here are a few simple tips to ensure more youthful lips:

Stop smoking! Smoking dries the lips reducing oxygen supply to them which provides the essential nutrient to the blood cells.

Shea butter, mineral oil, beeswax, castor, safflower, sunflower, jojoba, petroleum jelly or paraffin are great ingredients for sealing in moisture. I like Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm. For extremely dry, cracked and irritated lips, look for aloe vera.

Exfoliate your lips regularly to remove dead skin. Doing so helps generate new soft skin that is supple and smooth. I like Paula's Choice Lip Exfoliant with Micro-Beads

Sun damage is one of the key causes of dry lips due to exposure to UV rays. Always use a lip balm with SPF 15 or higher everyday.

During the winter or when sleeping in an air-conditioned room apply vitamin E oil to your lips. Vitamin E helps to reduce lip lines.

Avoid lip-plumping products that contain cinnamon, pepper or ginger extracts. They aggravate lips.

Hope this helps.
